Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
