NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
