Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
