Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players in the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
