Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
