Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke may not have came away with her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker go berserk following a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four children. She hails from NH and was raised into a family of card players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught her how-to play poker.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has won her cut of hard matches, which includes knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.

Earning over three million dollars in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his techniques to become a power player at the poker table.

You might notice Annie at the Bellagio, you will catch her on the tv and you might just even play with her in an online poker match, but don’t expect a simple win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you will not defeat her. although, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
